  • and you have all required permissions from any identifiable individuals appearing in uploaded media.

You are solely responsible for your User Content.

  • used in destination galleries,
  • shared across platform experiences,
  • incorporated into recommendations,
  • or otherwise made visible to other users and visitors.

This may include:

  • captions,
  • profile information,
  • and associated metadata.

5.4 Moderation Rights

Destination Unknown reserves the right, but not the obligation, to:

  • review,
  • moderate,
  • edit,
  • reject,
  • remove,
  • restrict,
  • or disable

User Content at any time and for any reason, including for violations of these Terms or quality, safety, legal, operational, or community concerns.

6. License Grant for User Content

6.1 License Granted to Destination Unknown

By uploading, posting, submitting, transmitting, or otherwise providing User Content through the Services, you grant Destination Unknown and its affiliates, successors, assigns, partners, licensors, sublicensees, contractors, service providers, and related ecosystem platforms, including ZEAL, a:

  • worldwide,
  • perpetual,
  • irrevocable,
  • royalty-free,
  • fully paid,
  • transferable,
  • sublicensable,
  • non-exclusive license

to:

  • host,
  • store,
  • reproduce,
  • modify,
  • adapt,
  • edit,
  • publish,
  • distribute,
  • publicly display,
  • publicly perform,
  • create derivative works from,
  • analyze,
  • process,
  • train algorithms on,
  • use in machine learning systems,
  • use in recommendation systems,
  • use in behavioral intelligence systems,
  • and otherwise exploit such User Content in any media formats and distribution channels now known or later developed.

This license includes the right to use User Content:

  • within the Destination Unknown platform,

  • within ZEAL and related ecosystem products,

  • in marketing materials,

  • promotional campaigns,

  • destination experiences,

  • social media,

  • editorial content,

  • recommendation systems,

  • AI systems,

  • personalization systems,

  • analytics systems,

  • and future platform features or services.

6.2 Media & Promotional Usage

You expressly acknowledge and agree that destination-related media you upload may be:

  • featured on destination pages,
  • incorporated into destination galleries,
  • used in marketing campaigns,
  • used in promotional materials,
  • displayed on social channels,
  • edited or reformatted for presentation,
  • or used to visually represent destinations across the Services and future related platforms.

Destination Unknown is under no obligation to:

  • credit users,
  • compensate users,
  • or seek additional permission for approved uses permitted under these Terms.

6.3 Behavioral & Analytical Use of Content

You acknowledge and agree that User Content and related interactions may be used to:

  • improve platform functionality,
  • improve personalization systems,
  • develop behavioral insights,
  • improve recommendation systems,
  • train machine learning systems,
  • optimize destination intelligence systems,
  • analyze engagement behavior,
  • and improve future products and services.

Destination Unknown may generate:

  • aggregated insights,
  • anonymized analytics,
  • behavioral trends,
  • and destination interaction models based on User Content and platform usage.

6.4 Survival of License

The licenses granted under this Section shall survive:

  • account termination,
  • content removal requests,
  • or discontinuation of the Services,

to the extent necessary for:

  • legal compliance,
  • archival purposes,
  • operational continuity,
  • analytics,
  • historical backups,
  • machine learning systems,
  • or previously created derivative works.

7. Behavioral Analytics, Personalization Personalization & Platform Intelligence

7.1 Behavioral Interaction Data

You acknowledge and agree that Destination Unknown may collect, analyze, process, and utilize information relating to your interactions with the Services, including but not limited to:

  • destinations viewed;
  • destinations saved;
  • wish list activity;
  • “Been There” activity;
  • revisit intent;
  • search behavior;
  • clicks and navigation patterns;
  • destination preferences;
  • outbound link interactions;
  • session activity;
  • scroll behavior;
  • time-on-page;
  • engagement metrics;
  • content interactions;
  • image interactions;
  • geographic trends;
  • travel affinity signals;
  • and related behavioral interaction data (“Behavioral Data”).

Behavioral Data may be collected automatically through:

  • analytics systems,

  • cookies,

  • session technologies,

  • recommendation systems,

  • event tracking systems,

  • AI systems,

  • personalization systems,

  • and related technologies.

7.2 Personalization & Recommendation Systems

You acknowledge and agree that Destination Unknown may use Behavioral Data and related platform activity to:

  • personalize destination recommendations;
  • improve discovery experiences;
  • generate destination clusters;
  • identify travel affinity patterns;
  • optimize recommendation systems;
  • improve content relevance;
  • improve future product experiences;
  • support behavioral segmentation;
  • and improve user engagement experiences.

These systems may include:

  • algorithmic recommendation engines;
  • artificial intelligence systems;
  • machine learning systems;
  • behavioral clustering systems;
  • emotional preference models;
  • and related automated technologies.

7.3 Aggregated gregated & Anonymized Insights

Destination Unknown may aggregate, anonymize, analyze, commercialize, publish, or otherwise utilize Behavioral Data and platform usage trends for:

  • platform optimization;

  • analytics;
  • investor reporting;
  • benchmarking;

  • product development;

  • and future services or technologies.

Aggregated or anonymized insights will not intentionally identify individual users personally unless expressly authorized by the user or required by law.

You acknowledge and agree that Behavioral Data and destination interaction activity may contribute to:

  • future destination intelligence systems;
  • behavioral travel models;
  • recommendation systems;
  • AI-generated experiences;
  • personalization systems;
  • route optimization systems;
  • community discovery systems;
  • travel identity systems;
  • and future ecosystem services operated by Destination Unknown, ZEAL, or related affiliated platforms.

8. Email Communications Communications & Marketing

8.1 Consent to Communications

By creating an account, subscribing, joining a waitlist, submitting your email address, or otherwise interacting with the Services, you consent to receive communications from Destination Unknown and its affiliated ecosystem platforms, including ZEAL, including:

  • promotional communications;

  • platform updates;
  • feature releases;

Destination Unknown reserves the right to:

  • merge accounts;
  • create unified profiles;
  • consolidate services;
  • synchronize user activity;

You acknowledge that future ecosystem services may include:

15.3 Maximum Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DESTINATION UNKNOWN’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED:

  • ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100), OR:
  • THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DESTINATION UNKNOWN IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability or exclusions of warranties.

Accordingly, some limitations contained in these Terms may not apply to you to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
